“Bioceramic Technology in Endodontics”

Recently, it has been reported that a single cone bioceramic sealer technique has been used in twenty million cases. Whether that is an exact number, I cannot say. However, what is known is that this is an excellent technique, based on science, and one that has gained worldwide acceptance. Consequently, I think it is a good time to review this technique from its inception, through its development, and ultimately to where it is today.

Additionally, this presentation will address the multiple uses of bioceramic technology in endodontics. This includes surgical applications, vital pulp therapy, and pediatric dentistry. The state of current research will also be discussed.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion, participants should be able to:

  • Describe fully the evolution of the bioceramic filling technique.
  • Comprehend how a single cone technique was motivated by a desire to preserve tooth structure and to ultimately enhance the long-term prognosis of the tooth.
  • Discuss how this technique has changed the way we think about both obturation and instrumentation.
  • Fully understand the various surgical applications of bioceramics.
  • Become familiar with vital pulp therapy.
